Child of God is the story of Lester Ballard (Scott Haze), a violent and twisted man who is trying to live a normal life in a town with no family, no real home (he’s camping out in an abandoned cabin) & no true friends. The townsfolk ostracize him for his strange behaviour and treat him like a criminal. This causes him to become more and more twisted and turn to criminal acts each one worse than the last before resorting to cave dwelling and essentially being on the run from the entire town. Scorned is a film ummm about a woman who is scorned by her lover, some stuff happens and it’s over. The End.
Okay, okay I know it’s not that simple so let me start again. Scorned is about Sadie (AnnaLynne McCord) who, while on a romantic weekend with her boyfriend Kevin (Billy Zane) discovers he has been cheating on her with her best friend Jennifer (Viva Bianca). Cue the start of a twisted night of revenge, torture and some very crazy behaviour. Probably not the best movie for a date night to all the couples out there but if you like a bit of a thriller then this is the film for you. So what did I personally think about my viewing experience? Well…… (more…)

This is the story of two strangers, who happened to grow up in the same small town, meeting randomly on a bus ride and are ultimately involved in an accident. They both wake up afterwards to discover that the whole town is deserted and surrounded by a thick black fog that is slowly creeping closer and closer to engulf everything. The two strangers need to become friends and work together to figure out what has happened, what is hiding in the fog and how they can escape. (more…)

Tokarev stars Nicolas Cage as Paul Maguire who was mixed up with gangsters and mobsters when younger but now leads a normal life on the straight and narrow with his wife and teenage daughter (who of course if his pride and joy). While on a dinner date with some town officials, his home is broken into and his daughter is kidnapped while her two friends are left behind beat up and bloody. This causes Paul, with approval from his wife, to return to his old ways calling on friends and stocking up on weapons to wreck havoc around the town to find out who dared to touch his daughter and why. This film is about American Daisy (Saoirse Ronan) who is sent to England to live with her cousins (I’m actually not sure why it’s never really explained). She’s very much a city girl who finds herself living way out in the countryside and hating every minute of it. After she finally starts settling in there is a massive attack and multiple bomb explosions which leave her and her cousins isolated on their property fending for themselves as an apparent war begins to happen around them.

Saoirse is really great in this roll portraying the stereotypical big city girl who is completely shallow with a side of depression but transforming convincingly into a tough girl who can take charge when the going gets tough and battles her way through and troubles that face her. (more…)

What can I say about Homefront without spoiling it? Basically it is the story of Phil Broker (Jason Statham) who was a cop working undercover in a bikie meth lab situation. Some bad stuff happens and then we skip forward in time to see him & his daughter relocated to a house in a small town trying to live a peaceful life. Of course that doesn’t happen for long especially after his daughter has a run in with a boy at school whos parents, in particular his tweaker mother Cassie (Kate Bosworth), decide their family has been shamed and they need revenge. Enter brother Gator (James Franco) who is essentially the town bad guy and watch everything go to hell from there. (more…)

I need to start by saying that when found footage films first started making an appearance I was a huge fan of them but then they started appearing in force and drowning out the market to the point where these days I tend to roll my eyes at the thought of another found footage film. For those reasons I was skeptical about Skinwalker Ranch…..that is until I saw the trailer. I was completely sold just from that and therefore went headfirst into this film expecting a whole lot and WAS NOT disappointed. (more…)
